Memory Services
Nye Legacy’s Memory Support Neighborhood offers a new beginning for those living with Alzheimers or other dementia related disorders. Specially trained staff provide professional care in a secure setting that allows people living with memory loss to enjoy their freedom and independence in the comfort of residential surroundings.
Nye Legacy recognizes the special needs of those living with memory loss and has designed the neighborhood to best meet these needs. Some of the distinct features include:
• Individual curios by each suite entrance for residents and their families to personalize with their memories and keepsake • Interior decoration colors and patterns to foster way finding and serenity
• A specially designed recreation program to meet the specific needs of individuals with memory loss• Low-stimulation environment
• Relaxation suite – a quiet and serene room that utilizes aroma and sound therapy to relax and reduce stress and agitation
Our mission is to provide a premier facility in a caring and nurturing environ-ment to enrich and enhance the individuality and dignity of our residents.
Our philosophy is:
• We know how difficult it must be to entrust your loved one to the care of others and we want you to feel comfortable choosing Nye Legacy.• We believe that people with Alzheimers and other dementia related disease processes have specific needs and require a sheltered low stress environment. Nye Legacy is a secured facility where easily aroused residents can be managed through the progressive course of their disease.• We believe it is important to respect each resident’s privacy and ensure his/her dignity is maintained.• We believe it is every staff member’s responsibility to be sensitive and compassionate to each individual resident and his/her family and their needs.• We believe that the energetic/assertive behavior of residents with Alzheimer’s is a symptom of unmet needs. Our staff will view the world through the eyes of our residents and try to determine their needs rather than reason or orient them to the environment.• We believe that staff who understand Alzheimer’s/dementia and are trained to redirect the frustration of the resident can reduce restless behaviors.
